Vision for Eye Care Services

Through extensive medical camps conducted across rural areas, it became evident that there was a severe lack of eye care facilities in the district. Thousands of patients suffering from cataract and other eye diseases were forced to travel long distances for treatment.
Recognizing this critical need, the Rotary Seva Trust resolved to establish a permanent eye hospital. With collective efforts, member contributions, donations, Rotary Foundation Matching Grants, and Global Grants, the dream became a reality.

Establishment of the Hospital

In 2006, during Rotary’s centenary year, J. F. Ajmera Rotary Netra Rugnalaya was established in Dharashiv. The hospital was named in honor of a generous donor whose contribution played a vital role in making this project possible.
The hospital started with limited resources but strong determination. Over the years, it has grown into a well-equipped, modern eye care center providing high-quality, affordable, and often free eye care services, especially for economically weaker sections.

Free and subsidized cataract surgeries under the National Blindness Control Programme.
Advanced phaco and laser eye surgeries.
Regular free eye check-up camps across rural and remote villages.
More than 35,000 eye surgeries performed till date.
Over 1 lakh patients benefited through outreach camps.
Fully computerized hospital records and transparent administration.
Recognized and supported by Rotary International, CSR partners, and government agencies.
No patient has ever been denied treatment due to financial constraints.

Expansion & Future Plans

To meet increasing patient demand, the Trust is planning:

• Expansion of hospital infrastructure with additional beds.
• Establishment of Vision Centers in rural areas (first center at Kalamb)
• Strengthening dental and diagnostic services
• Collaboration with CSR partners and philanthropic organizations

हा प्लॉट सर्व सदस्यांच्या संमतीने शेजारच्या व्यक्तीला विकून त्यातून आलेल्या पैशांतून गावामध्ये दुसऱ्या एका विकसित होत असलेल्या भागात १० हजार स्क्वे. फूटचा प्लॉट खरेदी करण्याचे ठरले. परंतु आमच्याकडे कायदेशीर संस्था नसल्यामुळे प्रथम आम्ही १९९८ मध्ये रोटरी सेवा ट्रस्ट नावाचा अधिकृत विश्वस्त निधी सुरू केला व ही आमच्या क्लबच्या सामाजिक चळवळीची मुहूर्तमेढ ठरली.
आमच्या जिल्ह्यात दरवर्षी ग्रुप स्टडी एक्सचेंज अंतर्गत येणाऱ्या सर्व परदेशी रोटरीयनना आम्ही आग्रहाने आमच्या क्लबला बोलावत असू व त्यांच्याबरोबर मैत्रीपूर्ण संबंध निर्माण करत असू.
जिल्ह्यातील रोटरीच्या कार्यक्रमांस उपस्थिती लावत असताना सोलापूर येथील मुख्य क्लबचे डॉ. काबरा, डॉ. राजीव प्रधान व इतर सदस्यांची ओळख झाली व त्यांच्याकडून रोटरी फाउंडेशन अंतर्गत मॅचिंग ग्रँट मिळविण्यासाठी आम्हाला प्रोत्साहन मिळाले.
गावातील एकूण ५२ शाळांमध्ये विद्यार्थ्यांना पिण्याचे शुद्ध पाणी मिळावे यासाठी वॉटर फिल्टर बसविण्याचा प्रकल्प आम्ही दोन वेगवेगळ्या मॅचिंग ग्रँटद्वारे पूर्ण केला. रोटरी फाउंडेशनची मदत कशा प्रकारे मिळू शकते याचा खूप चांगला अनुभव आम्हाला आला.
विशेष म्हणजे आमच्या क्लबमधील कोणीही सदस्य जिल्ह्यातील कुठल्याही पदावर काम करत नव्हता. मॅचिंग ग्रँट मिळविण्यासाठी क्लबमध्ये मोठ्या पदावरील माणसे लागतात किंवा डिस्ट्रिक्ट गव्हर्नरबरोबर जवळचे संबंध लागतात असे काहीही नसते. पारदर्शकतेने जर आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर आपले प्रकल्प व्यवस्थित मांडले व पाठपुरावा केला तर आंतरराष्ट्रीय पार्टनर मिळतात हे आमच्या क्लबने अनेक वेळा अनुभवले आहे.
साधारण २०१० पर्यंत आमच्या क्लबने ७ मॅचिंग ग्रँट पूर्ण केल्या होत्या व त्यानंतर ३ ग्लोबल ग्रँट्सद्वारे अंदाजे ३ कोटी रुपयांपर्यंतचे प्रकल्प पूर्ण करून अस्तित्वात आणले आहेत.
